A young couple moved into a new neighbourhood and while having breakfast the following morning, the young wife saw her her neighbor hanging her fresh laundry on the clothes line outside. She remarked to her husband that the clothes were not very clean and that her neighbour did not know how to wash clothes correctly. This was the same comment she made each time her neighbor hung her washed clothes on the line to dry. Her husband would look and he remained silent.
About one month later, the young wife was suprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and remarked to her husband that their neighbour had now learnt to wash clothes correctly. The husband replied that he got up early in the morning and CLEANED their windows!!! And so it is with life what we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look.
Everything we do is influenced by our values. Our actions are largely determined by the values we hold, and every time we make a decision we are relying on our values to tell us what to do.
Many of the sub-conscious values we live by were imposed on us by parents, peers, siblings and the culture around us. Unfortunately some of these values might be counter productive to our success and serve as a hindrance except we start to identify what is really important in life and we articulate a personal definition of success. Remember always that success is not a destination but is the feeling you get when you live out your personal values.
What do we see when we look through our windows? Before we give any criticism it might be a good idea to check our state of mind and ask ourselves if we are ready to see the good rather than finding fault in the person we are about to JUDGE.
